Recently I have been In Fremantle, Western Australia with Nick Azidis helping to facilitate Felice Varini’s work being presented at the High Tide Fremantle contemporary art exhibition. High Tide is the first incarnation of the Fremantle Biennale, a unique event, hosting the best in site-responsive art. Varini is a an internationally renowned swiss artist working from Paris and his piece consists of covering 800 meters of High Street with yellow ellipses. These lines were first projected onto the buildings with the trace outlines drawn of the shapes with pencil, tape and chalk. They spend several weeks after the tracing applying the yellow film to the buildings.
