The Music street mag and online blog asked me a few questions about the Gertrude Street Projection Festival which are below. Some of which they posted here

Sum up your arts practice in a tweet.
New media video artist working with live performance
Describe your piece for the Gertrude Street Projection Festival?
Underwater is a video piece that uses multiple layers of composited imagery to explore the connection between geometry and nature by generating sequences of patterns. These shapes combine to create an abstraction of the landscape that reflects emotion, sensation and distortion of the natural environment.
Describe the development of your piece for GSPF?
Underwater is a video installation using footage taken from the marine parks of coastal Victoria using bated cameras and recordings made by deep sea divers. This work was a commissioned piece under the joint collaboration between the Victorian National Park Association (VNPA) and the Center for Creative Arts (CCA), La Trobe University, Australia. It is a project was initiated by media artist, curator and academic Dr Jan Hendrik Brüggemeier in a series called “Nature in the Dark.” Five artists from Melbourne were asked to be apart of this project, each creating a new video which was exhibited in Baltimore, USA in January this year.
How did you get involved with GSPF?
Ive been a long supporter of GSPF as it is Australias first and longest running festival that is dedicated to projection installations. I first presented some work in the festival in 2014 showing a piece titled “The Space Between Us” which was based on a series of landscape projections made while documenting from a physical performance piece of walking through a site specific location.
This year im involved with GSPF in a few ways. Ill be an artist presenting some work at the Megan Parks store location. Ill also be performing as a VJ in the Catfish for the Dark Projections night which is co-hosted by the Leaps and Bounds Music Festival and The Gertrude Street Projection Festival. Im organising an AV event at the festival hub called Project Pixel with a fellow VJ Krystal Schultheiss on the 11th of July. This event will host a Touch Design workshop, several artist talks and performances in the evening all focused around live performance, digital media, projection art and video. Ive also been working with the GSPF and Krystal Schultheiss this year to help facilitate and curate the VJ’s for the other nights on at the festival hub
What works are you excited to see at GPSF?
My absolute favorite work in last years festival was by Skunk Control and Im really happy to see them return again for this year. They will be presenting work in window space of Rose Chong which is a great location. I think its a very cleaver idea the way they have played with materials to get refracted light
What are you working on at the moment?
Next in store is to start working on a brand new body of work. Im interested in the concept of narrative in audio – visual performance. This is quite a relevant issue when looking at live video performance as the sequence of images always gets mixed up and played in a new arrangement to create something new with every display. When we try to link the images together in the creation of a story what does this mean?
The diversity and multiplicity of human experience shows the impossibility of a single grand narrative. Digital media offers opportunities to express meta-narratives; localised stories of culture and society from many angles rather than as a story in its entirety.
